Spring Water on the Go: Take It in a Reusable Container
Spring Water on the Go: Take It in a Reusable Container

Alive Water's spring water delivery is the only source of water for many of our customers. We love that! But we also know that means taking spring water on the go. After all, you want to stay hydrated whether you are working, playing, or just relaxing in your favorite outdoor space.

Our question for you is this: what type of container do you use to take spring water with you outside of the house? If you are using a single-use plastic bottle, can we encourage you to change things up? A reusable bottle made of glass or steel is a better deal all the way around.

Single-Use Bottles and Microplastics

Single-use plastics come with a variety of concerns, including their propensity to add to the waste stream. Minimizing waste is one of the reasons we have chosen to feature glass bottles in our spring water delivery program. All that aside, there is another concern you should think about: microplastics.

Single-use plastic water bottles are known to shed microplastics. In addition, continuous ingestion of significant microplastics can lead to all sorts of health problems. A recent study published by the Genomic Press suggests that repeated exposure to microplastics could contribute to neurotoxicity, among other things.

The same study suggests that getting away from single-use plastic bottles could reduce a person's microplastic intake dramatically – from an estimated 90k to 4k particles per year. That is a lot of microplastic particles not making their way into your system.

Sustainability Matters, Too

Maybe you're not convinced that single-use bottles shed microplastics or that microplastics are not good for human health. But would you consider making the switch for sustainability reasons? A single-use plastic bottle can only be reused so many times before you eventually throw it in the trash. Then it becomes part of the waste stream.

A reusable bottle can be reused indefinitely. Fill it with spring water on your way out the door. When you get home, wash it with the rest of your dishes. It will be clean and ready to go the next day.

Using glass bottles and steel travel cups reduces our dependence on plastic. That is always good for sustainability. The more plastic we can keep out of landfills, the better. But here is something else to think about: a steel travel cup goes one better by keeping your fresh spring water ice cold. Throw a couple of ice cubes in with the water and you'll have a source of cold refreshment the moment you get thirsty.

You're Already Drinking Better Water

The fact that you have signed up for spring water delivery proves that you're already drinking better water on a daily basis. So why ruin a good thing by taking spring water on the go in a single-use plastic bottle? Why use any kind of plastic container?

Natural spring water deserves the best kind of container you can get your hands on. We deliver it to your house in glass bottles because we believe that glass is far better than plastic. We hope you will take the same approach by using a glass or steel bottle when you leave home.

If you're not yet signed up for spring water delivery, let's change that. Our program is simple to set up and easy to understand. Just contact us to place your first order. We'll set up a regular delivery schedule based on your needs. After that, the rest is up to us. We will deliver fresh spring water in glass bottles to your door.
